How to Use the Bracket Text Generator in 3 Steps

  2. Pick a pair of brackets

    Styles that end in Phrase put one pair around everything. Most of the others put a pair around each letter, which gives the boxed look. Bold Lenticular, Script Corner and Fraktur Angle wrap the whole phrase and also change the letters inside.

  3. Copy and test the brackets

    Click a style to copy it and paste it into your page or post. Brackets from East Asian typography can appear wider than the letters, so look at the spacing once it is pasted.

Two Ways a Bracket Text Generator Can Wrap Your Words

Most people expect brackets to go around a whole sentence, and about a dozen of the styles below do exactly that. The classic bracket text look, however, comes from the other method: a pair of brackets around every single letter, so each one sits in its own little box. The generator applies the same pair to each character, then leaves the spaces between words alone.

Pairs With Letter Changes

Three styles change the letters as well as the frame. Bold Lenticular wraps a heavy alphabet in 【 】, Script Corner uses a handwriting alphabet inside 『 』, and Fraktur Angle pairs blackletter with 《 》. They look the richest, but they also depend on two sets of characters being supported, so test them in the app first.

Using Brackets Without Overdoing It

  • Use a phrase pair for a section label or a tag, such as 【 New 】 at the front of a title.
  • Use a per-letter pair for short names and single words. Beyond five or six letters it starts to look like a barcode.
  • Keep the style the same through one post. Mixing round, square and lenticular pairs in one line looks like a mistake.

Bracket Text Generator FAQ

What is the difference between wrapping each letter and wrapping the phrase?

Wrapping each letter gives a row of little boxes, such as [H][e][l][l][o]. Wrapping the phrase puts one pair around the whole line, such as [ Hello ]. Pick the first for decoration and the second for headings and labels.

Where do corner and lenticular brackets come from?

They belong to Chinese, Japanese and Korean typography. Corner brackets mark quotations, lenticular brackets often highlight a heading or label, and double angle brackets mark titles of books and films.

Are these the brackets I can type on my keyboard?

Only some. Parentheses, square, curly and angle brackets are on most keyboards. The ornate, mathematical and East Asian pairs are separate Unicode characters, so copy them rather than trying to type them.

Why do some brackets look too wide?

East Asian brackets are designed for square character cells, so they take up more room than Latin letters. Pair them with Fullwidth or Wide styles if you want everything to match.

Will boxed text work in a username?

Many platforms restrict usernames to basic letters, digits and a few symbols, so brackets are often rejected. Display names and posts are more forgiving.

Is bracket text good for code or programming?

No. Only the ASCII brackets that appear on a keyboard are valid in code. The decorative pairs look similar but are different characters, and a compiler will not accept them.
