About Font Changer
Font Changer is a free font changer: type your text once and copy it in 971 styles, from bold and cursive to brackets, kaomoji and ASCII art.
Why this font changer exists
Most apps give you one typeface and no menu to change it. Yet people want their names, bios and messages to look a little more personal. The usual answer is styled Unicode text, but many font changer sites hide the copy button behind pop-ups, mix real fonts with images, or show empty boxes instead of letters. We wanted a font changer that is quick, honest about its limits and pleasant to use on a phone.
What you can do here
Type or paste a word into the converter on the home page and every style updates at once. Choose All to read the styles grouped by category, or click a tab to see only one category. One tap copies a style, and the size slider lets you preview it larger before you paste.
- 971 text styles in 28 categories, including bold, italic, cursive, gothic, bubble, wide, strikethrough, underline, small caps, tiny text, upside down, backwards, decorative, brackets, kaomoji and fancy numbers.
- 33 generator pages, one for each kind of look, so you can go straight to the cursive font generator, the gothic font generator or the ASCII text generator and read when that look works well.
- 43 FIGlet fonts for large multi-line ASCII letters, with the rendering done in your browser.
- 8 app pages for places where styled text is popular, such as Instagram, TikTok, Discord and WhatsApp. Where we have not checked how an app treats styled text, the page says so.
- Guides that explain how the technology works, why boxes sometimes appear and what formatting each chat app supports.
How the fancy text works
The styles are built from characters in Unicode, the standard that every modern phone and computer uses for text. A mathematical bold letter, for instance, is a separate character from a plain one. This means the result is plain text that can be pasted almost anywhere, and it also means that appearance depends on the fonts of the device that shows it. Our guide explains the details.
The page you see and the converter run on the same style tables. The server writes the sample text on each page with one program, and your browser builds the live result with another that follows identical rules. We compare the two on every release, so the sample you read before you type matches what you copy afterwards.
How we choose and check styles
- Real characters only. Each style is checked to make sure it produces assigned Unicode characters, so it does not rely on private or undefined symbols.
- One page, one purpose. A page exists only when a look has its own use, its own examples and its own warnings. We do not publish near-copies of a page to catch more searches.
- Limits are stated. Each generator page lists where the style can fail, for example in screen readers, search boxes or older devices.
- Facts about apps are marked. Apps change their rules often. If an app does not publish a rule about styled text, we say to test a short sample and do not make a claim.
What we promise, and what we do not
- Your text stays with you. The conversion runs in your browser, and what you type is not sent to us.
- We cannot change your phone's font. A website cannot do that. See what is possible on iPhone and Android.
- We cannot guarantee that every device shows every symbol. Old devices may show boxes. Plain styles such as bold and italic are the safest.
- No misuse. The tool is for decoration. Do not use it to imitate other people, to get around a service's rules or to hide harmful content.
Credits for the ASCII fonts
The ASCII text generator uses FIGlet fonts made by many different authors over several decades. The credit line of each font is listed in the credits section of the ASCII text generator page. Some authors ask for credit or limit commercial use, so check the original font file before you use large banners in a product.
Who runs the site
Font Changer is an independent project. It is not connected to any social media or messaging service, and no such service sponsors it. All product and company names belong to their owners. The site may show advertising to cover running costs, and we keep it out of the way of the tool.
Accessibility and good use
Fancy text is decoration. Screen readers can read it badly, search tools may not match it and some places do not accept it. We encourage you to use it in short pieces and to keep key information, such as names, prices and instructions, in plain text. If you notice a problem, please tell us.
