Fancy text is made of special characters, not real fonts. Screen readers may read it badly, so keep it for decoration. Your text never leaves your browser, and the size slider changes the preview only.

How to Use the Accent Text Generator in 3 Steps

  1. Enter a short line

Type a name or a few words. Every letter gets its own mark, so long sentences get busy fast.

  2. Pick where the mark sits

Marks above the letter are the safest. Marks below, such as the cross or the bars, are less common. Enclosing marks draw a circle, square or diamond around each character.

  3. Copy and look closely

Click a style to copy it, paste it into your post and zoom in. If a mark drifts off its letter or turns into a box, choose an above-the-line style such as Hat or Dots.

What Combining Marks Are and How the Accent Generator Uses Them

Unicode stores some marks as separate characters that have no width of their own. They sit on the letter that comes before them. The best known set is the Combining Diacritical Marks block, which holds the grave, acute, circumflex and tilde that French, Spanish and Portuguese writers use every day. An accent text generator takes the same idea and applies it to every character you type: letter, mark, letter, mark.

The result is not a different alphabet. The letters are your original ones, which is why accent text is easier to read than most other styles. A screen reader still has to cope with the extra marks, so keep it short.

Marks Above, Below and Around

  • Above the letter: Hat, Caron, Dots, Tilde, Macron, Breve, Ring, Hook and a handful of rarer shapes such as the Bridge and Zigzag. These are the best supported.
  • Below the letter: Cross, Equals, Plus, Minus, Wedge, Bars, Arrow and Asterisk. They read like a built-in underline made of symbols.
  • Hooks and tails: Cedilla and Ogonek, borrowed from languages that really use them.
  • Enclosing: Circle, Square and Diamond wrap each character in a shape. They look striking on devices that draw them well and messy on those that do not.
  • Combinations: Bold Ring and Script Hat start from a bold or script alphabet and then add the mark.

Good Uses for Accent Text

  • A gentle touch on a nickname without changing the alphabet.
  • Headings in a post where bold and italic are not available.
  • Stylised fictional words, brand-like names for characters and game items.

Check How It Looks Before You Post

Because each mark is a separate character, a line of accent text is twice as long as it looks. Apps that count characters will count the marks too, and a bio limit can run out sooner than you expect. Zoom in on the preview to make sure each mark lands on its own letter. If it does not, step back to the Underline Text Generator, which uses the same kind of mark but places it in a more predictable spot, or go further the other way with the Glitch Text Generator if broken is exactly the look you want.

Accent Text Generator FAQ

What is an accent in this tool?

It is a combining mark, a special character that attaches itself to the letter before it. The generator places one mark after each letter, so your device draws them as a single accented letter.

Are these the same as the accents in French or Spanish?

Some are. Tilde, caron and ring are used in real languages. Others, such as the bridge, the zigzag and the enclosing square, have no everyday use and are included for decoration.

Why does the mark sometimes sit beside the letter instead of on top?

Fonts place combining marks with their own rules. When the font cannot do it for a letter, the mark may float or slip sideways. Switching style or font often fixes it.

Which accent style is the most reliable?

Marks above the letter, like the hat, caron, dots and tilde, are the best supported. Marks below, and the enclosing circle, square and diamond, are drawn very differently from device to device.

How is this different from the glitch generator?

Both use combining marks. Accent text adds exactly one mark per character and keeps the line tidy, while glitch text stacks many marks until the letters drip and overlap.

Can I type real accented words with this?

For French, Spanish or Czech words, type the accented letter on your keyboard instead. A generator adds the same mark to every character, including letters that would never carry it.
